About Brian Edlow, MD

Dr. Edlow received his B.A. from Princeton University and M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), followed by neurology residency and neurocritical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and BWH.

He is currently a critical care neurologist at MGH, where he is Co-Director of Mass General Neuroscience, Associate Director of the Center for Neurotechnology and Neurorecovery, and Director of the Laboratory for NeuroImaging of Coma and Consciousness.

Research

Dr. Edlow's research focuses on the development of advanced neurotechnologies to predict and promote recovery from traumatic brain injury (Click Here). His lab's work has been continuously funded since 2010 by grants from the NIH, DOD, and multiple foundations. He is the recipient of the 2019 NIH Director's New Innovator Award, the 2022 ANA Derek Denny-Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award, and the 2023 Chen Institute MGH Research Scholar Award. Dr. Edlow serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Neurocritical Care Society's Curing Coma Campaign, the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neurotrauma, and is Co-Chair of the NINDS Common Data Elements Project on Disorders of Consciousness. He is also the Principal Investigator of the DOD-funded ReBlast study, which aims to identify diagnostic biomarkers of brain injury from repeated blast exposure in United States Special Operations Forces.
