MINNEAPOLIS- Never Surrender, Inc. led by president, David Kolquist, has made a gift over two years to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) to establish an Acceleration Center of Enrollment in ALS Trials at the University of Minnesota. This partnership is part of the Acceleration Centers of Enrollment (ACE) initiative, which was announced earlier this month.

The ACE initiative aims to accelerate enrollment and operational improvements in ALS clinical research by increasing access to clinical trials, expanded access protocols, and non-therapeutic research studies.

Joining the Healey & AMG Center at MGH and the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine, the University of Minnesota will create opportunities and improve the experience for study participants in ALS clinical research throughout the upper midwest territory. David Walk, M.D., will oversee the Acceleration Center of Enrollment at the University of Minnesota.

“We are excited to bring the ACE initiative to Minnesota and to collaborate with the Healey & AMG Center and the Les Turner ALS Center Northwestern” said Dr. Walk. “My hope is that our collective efforts will not only bring renewed hope to those affected by ALS, but help pave the way for a future where no one has to endure its challenges.”

“Never Surrender is thrilled to be a part of the Acceleration Centers of Enrollment initiative. This program will change the trajectory of ALS research and provide opportunities to those in parts of the country who may not have as much access to clinical trials,” said David Kolquist. “By joining forces with dedicated scientists and researchers, we can help advance the understanding of this devastating disease and move closer to finding a cure.”

Never Surrender Inc, based in Hermantown, MN, raises money through charitable activities for the purposes of raising money to fight ALS and help people with ALS.

About the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General

At the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General, we are committed to bringing together a global network of scientists, physicians, nurses, foundations, federal agencies, and people living with ALS, their loved ones, and caregivers to accelerate the pace of ALS therapy discovery and development.

Launched in November 2018, the Healey & AMG Center, under the leadership of Merit Cudkowicz, MD and a Science Advisory Council of international experts, is reimagining how to develop and test the most promising therapies to treat the disease, identify cures and ultimately prevent it.

With many clinical trials and lab-based research studies in progress right now, we are ushering in a new phase of ALS treatment and care. Together, we will find the cures.

About Never Surrender, Inc.

Never Surrender Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, made up of the same dedicated volunteers and long-time participants that have grown the Black Woods Blizzard Tour into the world-class fundraising event it is today and the Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament into a first-class tournament where anglers are treated like royalty. The structure within Never Surrender Inc allows for expanded flexibility and effectiveness in maximizing every dollar raised to support those living with ALS, as well as their caregivers. The intent of both events is entirely unchanged from the previous two decades – to raise as much money as possible to fund the fight against ALS.
