Coordinated Care for Complex Diagnoses

In 2022, the Mass General for Children Genetics Program established the Dr. Murray Feingold Coordinated Genetics Service (the Feingold Service) through the philanthropy of The Genesis Foundation for Children. With the integration of the Feingold Service into the department, our team is better suited to execute comprehensive treatment plans, address diagnostic needs, connect with subspecialty services, and streamline the experience so our patients receive the attention and care they deserve.

Our Impact

Around 1,000 MGfC patients receive coordinated care through the Feingold Service every year. Since the Service’s inception, we have made substantial progress toward our goal of providing resources for our most medically complex patients, including:

  • Tripling the number of care coordinators working with patient families
  • Hiring a new genetic counselor assistant (GCA) who offers genetic testing support to families and clinicians, helps navigate insurance authorizations for expensive and complex tests, and works directly with families to ensure the tests are completed properly and clinicians and patients receive the results promptly
  • Increasing access to genetic care by expanding Mass General’s services to Waltham, Cape Cod, and soon, Nantucket Cottage Hospital
  • Decreasing appointment wait times by 15 days for new patients and 19 days for existing patients
  • Increasing the number of patients seen each month by 21%

With the Feingold Service, we proudly provide exceptional and comprehensive care to patients and families.
