Speech-Language Pathology Education
The speech-language pathology (SLP) staff at the MGH Voice Center hold adjunct academic appointments in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGH-IHP) and in vocal performance programs at several Boston area schools of music and conservatories. At MGH-IHP, SLP staff teach graduate courses focused on voice and voice disorders, and they supervise clinical internships for students pursuing a Master’s degree in SLP with a concentration in Voice. Additionally, at local schools of music and conservatories, SLP staff deliver lectures on voice production and health as part of vocal pedagogy programs.
Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Research Training
The research staff at the MGH Voice Center actively train the next generation of voice scientists. They have academic appointments in two doctoral programs where they provide financial support through National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grants, mentorship, and research training to PhD students. These programs include the Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology PhD Program in the Division of Medical Sciences at Harvard Medical School and The Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Rehabilitation Sciences at the MGH-IHP.
Research staff also provide advanced research training to post-doctoral fellows, some of whom are supported by a T32 NIH training grant based at Boston University, in which MGH Voice Center research staff participate.
