Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, Takes Post as 19th Director of the CDC
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, officially began her post as the 19th director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In a statement, Dr. Walensky, former chief of the Infectious Diseases Division and Steve and Deborah Gorlin MGH Research Scholar 2015-2020, acknowledged the heartache and hardships caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but also expressed hope for the future.
“Better healthier days lie ahead. But to get there, COVID-19 testing, surveillance, and vaccination must accelerate rapidly.
