The Edward P. Lawrence Center for Quality and Safety (CQS) was established in 2007 to drive the implementation of the quality and safety initiatives at Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts General Physicians Organizations (MGPO).
The department is named after Edward P. Lawrence, Esq., chair of the Mass General Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2008, a steadfast advocate for the ongoing promotion of quality and safety across the hospital. He championed quality and safety efforts as well as encouraged quantifiable results in these important patient-focused areas.
CQS serves as an institution-wide resource to further Mass General's and MGPO’s shared goal of leading the nation in quality and safety by creating the highest quality, safest care environment for our staff and patients.
