About Gary Perlmutter, MD
Dr. Gary Perlmutter's practice focuses exclusively on disorders of the shoulder with a particular interest in arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff tears.
Dr. Perlmutter received his BA from the State University of New York, College at Oneonta. He earned his MD from Hahnemann University School of Medicine where graduated with High Honors in Medicine and Surgery. During medical school Dr. Perlmutter completed the Senior Honors Research Program and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following medical school he completed two internships, Internal Medicine and General Surgery, which was followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Perlmutter completed the Carter Rowe Shoulder Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 1993 and has been an active staff member since. A member of the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, he has extensively published and lectured on disorders of the shoulder. Dr. Perlmutter is a Clinical Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
