Department of Neurology Leadership Team

Led by Tracy Batchelor, MD, MPH, Chief of Neurology at Mass General Brigham, the leadership team at MGH within the MGB Department of Neurology is a dedicated group of physicians, scientists and administrators devoted to delivering exceptional patient care and accelerating the development of new treatments and cures for neurological disease.

Tracy Batchelor, MD, MPH

Previously, Dr. Batchelor served as chair of the Brigham and Women’s Department of Neurology since December 2018. He received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and a master’s in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed his medicine internship, neurology residency and neuro-oncology fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, respectively.

Dr. Batchelor’s primary field of clinical expertise relates to the therapy of malignancies of the central nervous system and neurologic complications of cancers. He has published extensively on the subject and has been a primary investigator on innovative clinical trials, both nationally and internationally. His research relates to the understanding of aberrant angiogenesis and signaling in brain cancers.

Andrew Cole, MD

Vice Chair for External Affairs, Director, Mass General Epilepsy Service, Chief of the Division of Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy, Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School

As Vice Chair for External Affairs, Dr. Cole cultivates and fosters relationships and collaborations with Mass General Brigham clinical affiliates, other Academic Medical Centers/community hospitals, as well as industry. Dr. Cole also chairs the standing Department search committee, developing innovative ways to attract and recruit top talent to our outstanding Department.

Steven M. Greenberg MD, PhD

Vice Chair of Vice Chair Faculty Development and Promotions, Director, Hemorrhagic Stroke Research Program, Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School

As Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Promotions, Dr. Greenberg leads the promotion committee, serves as a key mentor to faculty and supports his colleagues through career development, while also developing new programs to promote faculty development and mentorship.

Bradley Hyman, MD, PhD

Together with Dr. Tanzi, as a Co-Vice Chair of Research, Dr. Hyman leads the implementation of new initiatives that enhance translation of Mass General research to new therapies, keeps Mass General at the forefront of neuroscience research, promotes collaborations between clinicians and researchers, and continuously improves the work environment for our researchers.

Aneesh B. Singhal, MD

Vice-Chair Quality-Safety, Neurology, Vascular Neurologist and Neurosonologist, Director, MGH Comprehensive Stroke Center 

In his role as Vice-Chair of Neurology - Quality and Safety, Dr. Singhal leads a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, nurses, case managers and therapists to address important quality initiatives, in addition to overseeing regulatory compliance and faculty re-credentialing. He works closely with inpatient and outpatient leadership to provide our patients with the highest level of care.

Meg Kotarski, MBA

Chief Administrator of the MGB Neuroscience Institute, Vice President, Neurology

As Vice President, Meg is responsible for the clinical, research, human resource, operational, and financial management of the Department. She has extensive experience in clinical operations, process improvement, financial planning, training, administration, and business development in an academic hospital setting. She holds a MBA with a concentration in health sector management from Boston University's Questrom School of Business, and BS in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University.
