About Our Program

Please note this program is not enrolling patients until Spring 2025.

As part of the Addiction Recovery Management Service, Massachusetts General Hospital offers treatment for teenagers and young adults aged 13-26 struggling with gaming disorder, gambling disorder, and overuse of digital technology.

Our program is led by Kyle Faust, PhD, a clinical psychologist trained at reSTART, the first U.S. treatment center dedicated to gaming disorder. Patients benefit from evidence-based therapies tailored to their specific needs.

Our Approach

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Every patient undergoes an initial assessment to evaluate the severity of their symptoms.
  • Tailored Therapy: We provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) customized for gaming disorder, overuse of digital technology, or gambling disorder.
  • Co-occurring Conditions: Our treatments can be adapted for patients with co-occurring conditions like major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders.
  • Motivational Interviewing: For those less motivated to seek treatment, we offer motivational interviewing to help them engage in the recovery process.
  • Referrals: If a higher level of care is needed, we provide referrals for additional treatment.

Our goal is to help young people regain control of their lives and develop healthier relationships with technology.
