About Helen Burton-Murray, PhD
Helen Burton Murray, PhD is the Director of the Gastrointestinal (GI) Behavioral Health Program in the MGH Center for Neurointestinal Health. Dr. Burton Murray is an assistant investigator in the Division of Gastroenterology and a clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry. She is an Assistant Professor of Psychology (Psychiatry) at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Dr. Burton Murray received her BA in Psychology from Georgetown University and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Drexel University. She trained at MGH/HMS for psychology residency and post-doctoral fellowship in the Gastroenterology Division and the Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program. Dr. Burton Murray specializes in behavioral health treatments that aim to decrease the impact of chronic gastrointestinal symptoms on patients’ quality of life and overall medical functioning. Her clinical research program focuses on the intersection of gastrointestinal functional/motility disorders and eating disorders, including development of behavioral health treatments.
