About Massachusetts General Medical Group
Welcome to Massachusetts General Medical Group
Massachusetts General Medical Group (MGMG), part of Massachusetts General Hospital, comprises physicians and nurse practitioners who tailor care to each patient’s needs. We use technology like Mass General Brigham Patient Gateway and virtual visits to improve the quality of patient care.
In addition to comprehensive primary care, MGMG offers:
- Preventive medicine
- Rehabilitation
- Counseling
Your Patient-Centered Medical Home
We provide health care as a team, with a focus on the individual patient. This model is often called a "patient-centered medical home."
Each dedicated health care team includes:
- A physician
- Nurse practitioner
- Nurses
- Administrative staff
Together, the patient and health care team will create a health care plan that is personalized and coordinated to help the patient stay healthy and to provide care when needed, often with shorter wait times. The team can help patients better understand their health care needs, maintain an accurate medication list and/or connect them with specialists, if necessary. Patients are encouraged to play an active part in their health care by asking questions, communicating with their care team and collaborating to reach health goals.
If you have any questions about the patient-centered medical home model or would like more information, please speak with any member of your care team.
Educating the Next Generation of Health Care Leaders
As part of Mass General, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, we are proud to participate in educating the next generation of health care professionals and have several Mass General residents at our practice. These physicians received their medical degrees from top-ranked medical schools and are enrolled in residency programs specializing in internal medicine. They are supervised by our attending physicians, who have completed residency programs. Patients who see a resident as their primary care provider will find the attending physician’s name on their insurance card.
Billing and Insurance
We request that any required payments or co-payments are made at the time of the visit. We accept cash and personal checks. For questions regarding a bill, please call the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization billing office at 617-726-2040 to speak with a patient service representative.
We accept most major insurance carriers and managed health care plans, including Secure Horizons. Please confirm with your insurer that we are listed among their approved health care providers. If your plan requires you to choose a primary care physician, please be sure to name your MGMG doctor. Should your insurance change, please notify the registration office at Mass General as soon as possible by calling 877-211-6588.
