About Valdery Moura Junior
Valdery Moura Junior, MS, MBA is Director of Data Science Technology at the Henry and Allison McCance Center for Brain Health at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Technical Lead of the Datalake for Digital Device Data (4DE) at the MGB’s Research Information Science & Computing (RISC).
Trained as computer scientist with focus on data processing (BS and MS), Junior has over 25 years of experience in the tech field. He is specialized in all things big data – from big data architecture and engineering; to data governance and data strategy; to the development of software, data curation pipelines, IT infrastructure, data center operations, and Agile Project Management workflows to support it all. His previous roles at the hospital have included software engineer and technical lead at the MGH Cashlab, Technical Project Manager at the MGH Clinical Data Animation Center (CDAC), and most recently, as the Landmark 4 Technical Program Manager for MGB’s Research Information Science & Computing (RISC) Division – there, he designed and led a system-wide initiative that established a research data lake for digital device data collected from biomedical devices across multiple MGB hospitals.
At the McCance Center, Junior is responsible for the oversight of strategy, design, development, implementation, integration, data governance, cybersecurity, maintenance, and support of the center’s Data Science Technology Platform as well as the center’s Data Engineering and Analytics function.
