Welcome From the Residency Program Director

The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Medicine has a long-standing commitment to outstanding clinical training and education. We are dedicated to the development of exceptional and passionate leaders in medicine. Here at Mass General, our innovative faculty prepare and challenge you to become the best physician you want to be. Our goal is to help you reach your long-term career goals through a diverse range of clinical rotations and ambulatory experiences, using a unique team-based learning model. Our program leadership and outstanding faculty help you develop your clinical and leadership skills in a thoughtful and supportive learning environment.

Mass General nurtures intellectual curiosity, encouraging our residents to involve themselves in a wide range of research and scholarly activities. Our world-class faculty are enthusiastic to work with residents on academic projects. Residents have unique opportunities to engage in scholarly activity, including our new Pathways rotation. Residents are guided in their professional development through intense mentoring, academic advising and engagement in our coaching program.

Our residents come from a diversity of medical schools and backgrounds with a wide variety of interests, but share a passion for learning and exploring medicine together. It is our residents that make Mass General such an incredibly special place to train. They are deeply committed to peer teaching and share a strong camaraderie both inside and outside the hospital.
