Pioneering Patient Care
For over 100 years, the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital has pioneered imaging technology to improve human health.
Today, our research labs are developing powerful new ways to diagnose and treat many diseases. From the lab to the clinic, our community of radiologists and researchers are bringing advances directly to our patients.
Research Labs
3D Imaging Lab
The 3D Imaging Lab conducts translational research on using CAD and quantitative disease analysis on medical images to enhance patient care.
AR/VR Lab
The Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Lab at Mass General fosters the development of innovative imaging processes by producing an immersive environment to improve patient-centered care, enhance diagnosis and treatment, and elevate medical education. AR/VR allows medical professionals to simulate routine patient care and practice skills using innovative 3D technology.
Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging
The Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital is one of the world’s premier research centers devoted to development and application of advanced biomedical imaging technologies.
Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center
The Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center creates new opportunities to use the combined power of AI and imaging for biomarker discovery and improvements in population health, multisystem imaging to unlock the secrets of how external stress leads to brain activation that advances atherosclerosis and how to address the excess risk of cardiovascular disease among patients with cancer.
Center for Molecular Imaging Research
The Center for Molecular Imaging Research (CMIR) is part of the Center for Systems Biology at Mass General. Its goal is to develop novel technologies and methods for in vivo molecular imaging and extend the technologies to important questions in tumor biology and clinical research.
Center for Precision Imaging
The Center for Precision Imaging focuses on designing, creating, and testing new methods for imaging and therapeutic targeting of important biological pathways in disease.
Center for Research and Innovation in Abdominal Imaging
The Center for Research and Innovation in Abdominal Imaging performs cutting-edge research that influences clinical practice, focusing on artificial intelligence, precision medicine and population health management.
Center for Systems Biology
The mission of the Center for Systems Biology is to analyze how biological molecules, proteins and cells interact in human patients.
Gordon Center for Medical Imaging
The Gordon Center for Medical Imaging is a multidisciplinary research center dedicated to improve patient care by developing and promoting new biomedical imaging technologies used in both diagnosis and therapy.
Institute for Innovation in Imaging
The Institute for Innovation in Imaging collaborates with researchers and industry partners to accelerate translation of new tools that detect disease early and monitor emergent treatments.
Institute for Technology Assessment
The mission of the Institute for Technology Assessment (ITA) is to conduct health outcomes research to guide the development, evaluation and utilization of medical technologies that improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of medical care.
MESH Incubator
The Medically Engineered Solutions in Healthcare (MESH) Incubator is a novel multispecialty patient-centered device and digital health research and creation laboratory in the heart of the Mass General Department of Radiology reading room.
