Fumito Ichinose, MD, PhD is an attending physician in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and the William Thomas Green Morton Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ichinose received his M.D. degree from the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. After completing a medical internship, Dr. Ichinose started anesthesia residency at Teikyo University School of Medicine. He emigrated to the United States and completed his residency in Anesthesia at the Department of Anesthesia of Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Ichinose then continued his postgraduate training as a Clinical and Research Fellow at MGH, participating in the Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Fellowship and basic science research training in cardiopulmonary physiology and nitric oxide biology. Dr. Ichinose is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology.
