About Robert Wang, MD

I am a urologic surgeon in the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Urology who specializes in the treatment of all forms of urologic cancer, utilizing the latest surgical techniques and drawing from the most up-to-date evidence in my field.

I graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis with degrees in biology and anthropology, and continued on to obtain my MD from Washington University School of Medicine. Following medical school, I moved to Ann Arbor and completed my internship and residency at the University of Michigan – one of the top urology training programs in the country. Finally, I completed a two-year fellowship in urologic oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

As a urologic oncologist, I take pride in helping patients navigate some of the most difficult times of their lives. I understand how deeply cancer – or even the possibility of cancer – affects not only someone's life and well-being, but that of everyone around them as well. At every appointment, I work with my patients to create individualized treatment plans based on the latest research and surgical techniques while also considering their individual goals and desires. In doing so, I hope to provide my patients with comfort and reassurance in uncertain times.

Academically, I have dedicated my career to improving the education of urology trainees. In this time of expanding medical knowledge and increasing urologist sub-specialization, old methods of surgical training are becoming increasingly inadequate. I aim to adapt the latest innovations in health professions education to our field so we can continue producing the most confident and competent doctors that our patients deserve.
