Youngwu Kim, MD, is a urogynecologist in the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Massachusetts, UMass Memorial. She then completed the URPS fellowship at Mass General before joining the team of urogynecologists at Mass General.
Dr. Kim is a member of the Pelvic Floor Disorder Center and provides specialty care for a wide variety of benign and complex pelvic floor disorders, including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse (such as vaginal or uterine prolapse), as well as providing other pelvic reconstruction and treating complications from prior pelvic surgeries.
She specializes in minimally invasive surgical approaches, including laparoscopy and robotically assisted surgeries. Her primary interest in research includes clinical and surgical outcomes after pelvic floor and gender-affirming reconstructive surgeries. Her expertise also includes the exploration of beneficial lactobacilli in the vagina and the bladder.
