About Siobhan O'Neill, MD

Siobhan O'Neill, MD, CGP, is a part-time Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and faculty member at MGH, where she teaches residents, serves on the Steering Committee for the Center for Group Psychotherapy, and formerly served on the Physicians Wellness Committee.

Dr. O'Neill practices clinically and consults to major malpractice insurers in the Boston area and throughout the country. Since 2008 she has facilitated peer resource and support groups for doctors and nurses who have experienced adverse events, and who have been sued for malpractice. A long-time meditator trained to teach others, she brings mindfulness-based approaches to her group sessions, providing life-long skills for addressing stress at work and home. She teaches nationwide on navigating the aftermath of adverse events and litigation, and on cultivating humanity, self-care, and self-stewardship in the practice of medicine.

Dr. O'Neill graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, and is a graduate of Harvard Medical School's residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. She has completed advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and spiritual psychology.

Dr. O'Neill is a certified yoga teacher and has been endorsed to teach Insight Yoga, an integrated practice of yoga, meditation, and psychological work, through the Insight Yoga Institute.
