Mass General for Children pediatric infectious disease specialists diagnose and treat the full range of infectious diseases and congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies in infants, children and adolescents, and provide consultation to health care professionals dealing with complex cases. The Pediatric Infectious Disease staff also assists the Infection Control Unit to optimize infection control procedures for pediatric patients.
Our staff comprises pediatric specialists board-certified in infectious disease and pediatrics or internal medicine who have extensive experience treating a broad range of acquired and congenital conditions including:
Clinical care is offered to patients hospitalized in a variety of settings at Mass General for Children, Shriners Hospitals for Children- Boston, and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Many of these patients are critically ill with complex multi-system disorders.
We provide outpatient consultative services in pediatric infectious disease and congenital and acquired immunodeficiency to children in Eastern Massachusetts and the New England region. In addition, we offer transitional follow-up care to recently discharged inpatients to optimize post-discharge care.
At Mass General for Children, we know that the time of your child’s diagnosis and treatment is a very stressful one and we strive to provide an open, welcoming environment. We believe that no one knows a child as well as the parent does: parents, along with primary care providers, become our partners in a child's care and have an active voice in all treatment plans.
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Unit staff plays an integral role in the educational mission of Mass General for Children, with active participation in formal didactic and clinical resident education, as well as department-wide teaching activities such as Grand Rounds and continuing medical educational programs.
