Tapping expertise from Mass General for Children, the Myhre Syndrome Foundation launched its inaugural conference on July 10-11, 2021.
Sylvia Fogel M.D. received a B.S. in human development and family studies from Cornell University in 1994. She received an M.D. from Cornell University Medical College in 1999 and then completed a residency in psychiatry at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute in 2003. Dr. Fogel subsequently went on to study clinical psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic theory at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research and received a certificate in psychoanalytic medicine in 2010.
Until 2017, Dr. Fogel was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University, where she was engaged with both teaching and supervision of residents and fellows and also taught psychoanalytic candidates. Until moving to Massachusetts in 2015, Dr. Fogel also had a private practice in New York City, where she specialized in psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and perinatal psychiatry. Over the years, Dr. Fogel has had increasing opportunity to work with the parents of special needs children and has robust experience with issues unique to this community. Dr. Fogel has a strong interest in integrative and complementary therapies to support health and wellness and practices using functional medicine principles.
