Spaulding Outpatient Center for Children in Lexington (at the Lurie Center) provides speech-language therapy and assessment for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental disorders.

As an integral part of the clinical services of the Lurie Center, the dedicated team of Spaulding speech-language pathologists provide high quality evaluations, coordinated care and intervention for patients with developmental disorders. Family members play a key role in our team-based approach and are involved every step of the way. Working hand-in-hand with families, physicians and specialized clinicians, we make sure each child gets the support and state-of-the-art services they need to succeed.

Augmentative Alternative Communication Clinic

Spaulding specialists at the Lurie Center have created a communication and technology program to provide comprehensive evaluations and interventional strategies for children and young adults needing alternative or augmentative means of communication through use of a variety of different communication devices. The goal is to provide communication skills that extend beyond simply conveying of basic wants and needs, and provides the means to allow each individual to be heard, and to express emotions. In addition, the program provides assistive technology evaluations and interventional strategies for children requiring academic aides for use in their home and classroom environments.

Spaulding's speech-language pathologists provide both direct clinical care and opportunities for participation in research.
