About Chirayu Patel, MD, MPH
Chirayu G. Patel, MD, MPH is a radiation oncologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital and specializes in hematologic malignancies, including Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and leukemia.
A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Patel graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, attended medical school at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and obtained his Master of Public Health in Quantitative Methods from the Harvard School of Public Health. He also completed a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellowship at the National Institutes of Health during medical school, where he did research on acute myeloid leukemia.
Following his schooling, Dr. Patel completed an internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and radiation oncology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was the Chief Resident during his final year. During residency, he was a recipient of the highly competitive ASTRO (American Society for Radiation Oncology) Resident Seed Grant, which he used to study tumor metabolism in the laboratory.
After completing his clinical and research training, he joined the faculty of Massachusetts General Hospital, where he specializes in radiation oncology involving hematologic malignancies and conducts clinical research to advance cancer therapy, as well as improve the cancer survivorship experience.

Research
Dr. Patel's research is focused on advancing radiation oncology for hematologic malignancies. He is developing clinical trials to test radiation therapy together with novel drug and immunotherapies, as well as incorporate new radiation techniques to reduce side effects from radiation therapy.
