T. Salewa Oseni, MD: Discipline and Diversity in Medicine

T. Salewa Oseni, MD is a member of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She specializes in breast surgery with a pending appointment as an Instructor in Surgery for Harvard Medical School. Dr. Oseni received her undergraduate training at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and her medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University. Following this, she was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and completed her general surgery training at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. She received her fellowship training in surgical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Oseni most recently was the Director of the Breast Health Center at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Dr. Oseni is currently a surgical member of the multidisciplinary cancer team at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH.

Dr. Oseni’s research activities are focused on innovations in oncoplastic techniques to optimize the excision of large tumors while preserving the breast, improving cosmetic outcomes, developing methods of assessing risk of malignancy in women with abnormalities on breast imaging and evaluating nipple-sparing mastectomy techniques.
In addition, Dr. Oseni is interested in clinical outcomes research that focuses on methods to collect, analyze, and improve outcomes related to cancer surgery at the National level. She conducts her outcomes research at the Codman Center for Clinical Effectiveness in Surgery.
