Revere HealthCare Center Laboratory
The Revere HealthCare Center Laboratory offers limited on-site testing. The Laboratory at Mass General’s Revere HealthCare Center supports patient care by providing timely and accurate clinical laboratory information on blood, and body fluids. Experienced medical technologists provide pediatric and adult phlebotomy services and EKGs to patients under the care of a Mass General Brigham clinician. Electrocardiograms (ECG’S)
We regret that we can not accept ECG test requisitions or perform tests on any patient that does not have a Primary Care Physician at the Revere HealthCare Center. Electrocardiograms (ECG’S)
Specimens
Providers who collect specimens in their offices or on home visits must:
- Label the specimen with two patient identifiers
- Complete a Revere Lab requisition
- Place it in a plastic specimen bag with the completed requisition
- For tests not performed at the Revere Lab
- Please mark the appropriate box on the requisition form
- All Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) tests must be ordered on the appropriate BTS requisition
- The Laboratory will collect and forward specimens to the appropriate laboratory for testing
Criteria For Specimen Refusal
The laboratory reserves the right to refuse a specimen under any of the following conditions.
- Specimen not labeled with two patient identifiers
- Name on specimen and requisition do not agree
- Specimen is more than 24 hours old
- Urine specimens more than 1 hour old and unrefrigerated
- Quantity Not Sufficient (QNS) for testing
- Specimen unsuitable for testing
- Date of Specimen unknown
- Specimen arrives without a requisition
- Improperly sealed or leaking container.
Results
Results are accessible by PCIS/CAS or by calling 617-724-LABS (5227). STAT tests are for urgent care only. The Revere Laboratory offers “routine” and “STAT” tests. Results that fall outside of the Revere HealthCare Center Lab critical limits will be called in to the provider or care unit in accordance with the Mass General Critical Values Policy.
