If you are having ongoing facial pain or jaw pain, it could be from a number of different causes. Some possibilities include trauma (accident), nerve injury, bruxism (teeth grinding), neurological disorders or neuropathies (nerve problems), pathology (your unique face and jaw structure), or by temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders (jaw joint disorders). Mass General's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Care Center has a complete care team of specialists, including pain specialists. Our focus is to diagnosis, treat, and help you manage your pain.
With this in mind, our mission is to provide a comprehensive (complete) diagnostic evaluation. We provide a management plan that takes a holistic (whole person) approach to your care. That means we look at all of the factors in your life that could be impacting your facial, jaw, and oral health.
