About Simone Rinaldi, MSN, ANP-BC, ACHPN

Simone is the Director of Nursing for the Massachusetts General Hospital Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine (DPCGM) and the Co-Director of the Mass General Palliative Care Clinic. She is a nurse practitioner, board-certified in Adult Primary Care and Hospice and Palliative Care and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and the University of Connecticut, Storrs.

Since starting her nursing career, Simone has focused on the development of innovative palliative care programs across a wide array of settings including acute, correctional, homecare, and ambulatory-care clinics. She has been with DPCGM since 2010 and has been responsible for building and leading the nursing teams across the major service lines within the division (inpatient, outpatient, home-based, and geriatrics).

Simone has served a significant role in leading the development and optimization of clinical operations that align with departmental and institutional strategies to improve quality of care and patient experience. Clinical operations are her focus and her passion. She believes that strong clinical operations can aid in the creation of robust, resilient, and highly functioning teams; serve as the foundation for healthy and collaborative relationships with referrers/colleagues; and create an environment of trust for our patients.

Her research interest and efforts have focused on the delivery of early integrated outpatient palliative care for patients with advanced cancers.
