Research

Dr. Sanborn's research interests include defining and refining the role of echocardiography as a tool to better understand uncommon cardiomyopathies including Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. She managed the Echo Core Lab for the North American Multidisciplinary Study of ARVC and participated with a group of experts who proposed Modifications of the original Task Force Criteria for the diagnosis of ARVC, published in 2010. She has also used her expertise in echocardiography to collaborate with colleagues at MGH to study echocardiographic predictors of atrial fibrillation in cryptogenic stroke and the genetic basis of cardiovascular diseases including atrial fibrillation and cardiomyopathy.
