Research

Funding from the American Academy of Neurology, Rappaport Foundation, National Parkinson Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and philanthropic gifts have allowed me to characterize ways to improve neurology care for racial and linguistic minority populations. My publications are in the Journal of the American Heart Association, Neurology, Movement Disorders, and other peer-reviewed journals. I have also disseminated my work through invited grand rounds, CME courses, and presentations at the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting, the American Neurological Association Annual Meeting, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society International Congress, and the Physicians for a National Health Program Annual Meeting.

I have created mechanisms for trainees to develop academic projects focused on neurologic health equity, including the Mass General Brigham Neurology Residency Program Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion for neurology residents, the MGH Neurology Community Health Diversity and Inclusion Internship for undergraduate and graduate students, and the MGH Neurology Youth Stroke Education program for high school students.  My mentees have published first-author manuscripts, presented their research in national forums, and been recognized with American Academy of Neurology Diversity Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, and Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars awards.

She is very warm and engaging. I feel confident in her diagnosis she's very intelligent but spoke in a way I could understand. Would definitely make another appointment with her if circumstances change.

January 2025

I have a long standing relationship with Dr. Mejia going back about 8 or 9 years. She's always been excellent, available, and very sympathetic or empathetic to what's going on in my life with my Parkinson's. I would strongly recommend her to anyone else. I continue to enjoy seeing her as my neurologist.

December 2024

I was referred to Dr Mejia Gonzalez by my neuromuscular provider. l left this visit with an overwhelming feeling of appreciation and confidence relative to Dr Mejia's grasp of my history and her expertise, thoroughness and professional manner. MGB should be very proud of the talent and skill that Dr Mejia provides her/your patients.

December 2024

This provider is very knowledgeable, very intelligent, pays attention, does their homework, knows my history and recent history, and things that have nothing to do with really what she's treating me for, but that's how thorough she is.
