About Richard Teo, MD
Richard Teo, MD is an abdominal transplant surgeon dedicated to kidney and liver transplant care. Dr. Teo specializes in minimally invasive living kidney donor transplant surgery using robotic assisted technology. He provides transplant care at both Mass General and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Dr. Teo completed his abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and his general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
His clinical interest is in promoting living donation in transplant and helping support patients on their transplant journey through his involvement in the FRONTieR Clinic (FRailty, Obesity, and Nutrition in TRansplant).
His academic interest and passion are in surgical education and coaching. He was elected to the AΩA Honor Medical Society as a resident for his contributions to medical student education. He also was awarded the Golden Apple Teaching Award, Senior Resident Teacher of the Year, and the Leo M Davidoff Society Teaching Award. Additionally, he completed a Surgical Education and Leadership Fellowship via the Association for Surgical Education.
Dr. Teo grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now calls Boston home.
