About Leon Pappas, MD, PhD

Dr. Pappas is a Medical Oncologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He holds an MSc in Immunology from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Immunology from the ETH Zurich. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and belongs to several oncology research societies, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Dr. Pappas specializes in the treatment of Gastrointestinal cancers, as well as in Developmental Therapeutics. As a medical oncologist in the multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology group at MGH, he collaborates with providers across multiple specialties to tailor and optimize treatment plans for patients with all stages of cancer. As a member of the Termeer Center for Developmental Therapeutics, he offers patients access to some of the most cutting-edge treatments available in Oncology, with a personalized approach using molecular and genomic tumor profiling to guide therapeutic decision-making. His research focuses on the study of Colorectal Cancer, and he is supported by an ASCO Young Investigator Award. He is passionate about increasing and improving the therapeutic options available to patients, and designs clinical trials with novel targeted therapies and immune therapies.
