About Yiyin Chen, MD, PhD

Y. Erin Chen, MD PhD is an board-certified dermatologist at MGH, an Assistant Professor of Biology at MIT, and a Core Institute Member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Dr. Chen earned her B.A. in biology with honors from the University of Chicago, her Ph.D. from MIT, and her M.D. from Harvard Medical School. She completed her dermatology residency at UCSF and postdoctoral research training at Stanford University. She is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Hanna H. Gray Fellow.  

Beyond patient care, Dr. Chen is a physician scientist who dedicates her time to running her laboratory at the Broad Institute, where she mentors MIT Biology graduate students and postdoctoral scientists. Her lab studies the communication between the immune system and the diverse microbes that colonize our skin.
