Dr. Ashley Nelson is a clinical psychologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is an active member of the MGH Cancer Outcomes Research & Education Program (CORE), Center for Psychiatric Oncology and Behavioral Sciences, and Behavioral Medicine Service.

Dr. Nelson’s clinical work focuses on providing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients and their families cope with a cancer diagnosis, the demands of cancer treatment, and the challenges of cancer survivorship. In addition, Dr. Nelson works with a multidisciplinary team of researchers to develop, test, and deliver supportive care and behavioral interventions to reduce symptom burden and improve quality of life for patients with blood cancer. She is a principal investigator and collaborator on several active research projects. She is currently studying the prevalence, severity, and clinical management of fatigue among patients diagnosed with cancer and recipients of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT), as well as other needs of patients being managed for chronic graft-versus-host disease. Dr. Nelson has received funding to support her work from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health and the National Palliative Care Research Center.
