About Emily Lopes, MD, MPH

Emily Lopes is a gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at the MGH Crohn's and Colitis Center. Dr. Lopes earned her MD with Honors from New York University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency, chief residency, general gastroenterology fellowship, and advanced IBD fellowship at MGH. She completed her MPH in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research interests include understanding how dietary, lifestyle, and genetic factors influence the development and course of inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, with a focus on studying methods for prevention of inflammatory bowel disease. Her research has been funded by the American College of Gastroenterology and National Institutes of Health (NIH).
