About Matthew Gartland, MD
Matthew Gartland, MD, is a member of the Core Educator Faculty in the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
He is a graduate of Harvard College and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at MGH, where he was a Chief Resident in 2017-2018. He serves as an Associate Program Director for Global Medicine in the MGH Internal Medicine Residency program. He is a faculty member of the MGH Center for Global Health and the MGH for Children Division of Pediatric Global Health.
Dr. Gartland is the Director of the MGH Asylum Clinic, a volunteer organization whose mission is to perform forensic medical and psychological evaluations for survivors of persecution and torture seeking asylum in the United States. Dr. Gartland’s academic interests include multidisciplinary medical education, trauma-informed care, and health and human rights in detention-settings.
