About Chika Anekwe, MD, MPH

Chika V. Anekwe, MD, MPH is the Obesity Medicine Clinical Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Weight Center and an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). She is the founding President of the New England Obesity Society. 

Dr. Anekwe received her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, her MD from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and her MPH from Columbia University. She completed her internship in Pediatrics at NYU Langone Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital and went on to complete her residency in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health at SUNY Stony Brook University Medical Center. Dr. Anekwe joined MGH in 2018; her professional interests are in the areas of clinical nutrition, obesity treatment, non-surgical weight management, health policy and community health outreach, with a special interest in underserved communities.
