Rory B. Weiner, MD is a non-invasive cardiologist with expertise in echocardiography, quality improvement, and sports cardiology. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He previously served as the Associate Chief for Clinical Operations of the Cardiology Division at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Roman W. DeSanctis Endowed Chair in Cardiology.
Dr. Weiner received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed training in internal medicine, cardiology, and advanced echocardiography at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was also selected to serve as Chief Medical Resident from 2008 - 2009.
Dr. Weiner is a member of the MGH echocardiography laboratory and the Cardiovascular Performance Program, a clinical program designed to provide comprehensive cardiac care to athletes and active individuals. His clinical interests are in general cardiology, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and sports cardiology.
Dr. Weiner is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Cardiology. He has authored numerous original research articles and reviews focusing on cardiovascular care in athletes, exercise-induced cardiac remodeling, appropriate use of echocardiography in clinical practice and quality improvement. He has received independent research funding from the Mass General Physicians Organization (MGPO), American Society of Echocardiography, and the American Heart Association. He has been recognized for his teaching contributions to the MGH/Harvard community with several teaching awards.
