About Aleena Banerji, MD
Dr. Aleena Banerji is Professor at Harvard Medical School and Clinical Director of the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Unit at MGH. She is known for her expertise in drug allergy, vaccine allergy, and angioedema. She has focused her career to improving the lives of patients with these conditions, pioneering innovative approaches to diagnosis and treatment. Early in her career, she recognized the unmet need for specialized drug allergy care and established a successful program at Massachusetts General Hospital, based on her extensive research involving patient data and novel treatment protocols.
Dr. Banerji has focused particular attention on the growing concern of chemotherapy allergies in cancer patients. Dr. Banerji's work focuses on drug allergy and angioedema. Specifically, Dr. Banerji has worked on improving the diagnosis and management of patients presenting with drug reactions to a variety of medications including antibiotics, aspirin, chemotherapeutic agents, monoclonal antibiotics and anesthetic agents. In the field of angioedema, Dr. Banerji has a particular interest in hereditary angioedema to improving care, improve quality of life and decreasing burden of disease.
