About Deborah Wexler, MD, MSC

Deborah J. Wexler, MD, MSc, is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts and Chief of the MGH Diabetes Unit. She received her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut and completed her internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Wexler’s research focuses on clinical effectiveness in type 2 diabetes. She has led multiple NIDDK- and PCORI- funded projects that seek to improve the health and well-being of people with diabetes. She served on the American Diabetes Association’s Professional Practice Committee (2014-2016) and was a co-author of the 2018-2019 ADA-EASD position statement on management of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes. Dr Wexler is on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Care, is a reviewer for multiple medical journals, and is an editor of NIDDK’s Diabetes in America.
