Overview
Proctocolectomy with Ileal Pouch Anal Anastomosis (IPAA/J-pouch/S-pouch/W-pouch) is a curative surgery performed in 1-3 stages for patients with medically-refractory ulcerative colitis (UC), UC with dysplasia or Familial Adenomatous Polyposis to allow maintenance of the normal passage of stool. Individuals with ileal pouches have a unique set of needs for both maintenance of a healthy pouch and for specialized diagnosis and treatment of pouch disorders. Our multidisciplinary team of inflammatory bowel disease physicians and colorectal surgeons is here to support patients through each stage of ileal pouch surgery and to provide cutting-edge, coordinated longitudinal care in the management of pouch disorders.
We offer:
- Coordinated medical and surgical evaluation
- Advanced diagnostics for pouch disorders, including pouchoscopy, defecography, anorectal manometry
- Pelvic floor physical therapy
- Support for adjusting to a new pouch
