Recruitment Initiatives
CDI partners with all Mass General residency and fellowship programs to strengthen and expand their recruitment initiatives. Learn more about our recruitment initiatives.
Retention Initiatives
CDI has worked closely with many departments to design mentorship and career development programs for trainees from underrepresented in medicine (UIM) groups during their training at Mass General. CDI also sponsors welcoming receptions and networking events to help build a sense of community within Mass General. Our manager of trainee affairs is dedicated to providing career guidance to residents and fellows while at Mass General.
- Mass General and Mass General Brigham have several resident benefit programs that ensure living in Boston is an affordable experience, including a Resident Stipend Pilot Program and a Lease Guaranty Program
- The Resident and Fellow Committee (RFC) is another resource that plays a crucial role in the life of UIM residents and fellows at Mass General. The RFC offers opportunities to socialize and network among peers, enhance career development, and become involved in the larger Harvard and Boston communities
- Career Development Liaison Program (CDLP): CDI works closely with many departments to design mentorship and career development initiatives for UIM trainees during their time at Mass General. CDI staff also provide individual career guidance, mentorship, and coaching to residents and fellows. As part of a continuing effort to support URiM residents in their transition from student to trainee, CDI created the Career Development Liaison Program (CDLP). In CDLP, a UIM first-year resident is matched with a URiM faculty, clinical fellow, or senior resident mentor who can discuss career plans in a one-on-one counsel setting, as well as serve as liaisons to Mass General and the greater Boston community. Participation in CDLP begins in the internship year and continues throughout the residency. CDLP mentors and mentees also participate in networking and social events to help develop a stronger community and foster teamwork and collaboration among all participants. This program is managed by Jocelyn Carter, MD, MPH, Manager of Trainee Affairs, Center for Diversity and Inclusion
-
Office for Diversity, Inclusion and Community Partnership (DICP) at Harvard Medical School was created to promote increased recruitment, retention and advancement of diverse faculty, particularly underrepresented minority faculty, at Harvard Medical School and to oversee all diversity activities involving Harvard Medical School faculty, trainees, students and staff
- The CDI Faculty Development Award Program (MFDAP) is available for graduating residents and clinical fellows to advance their careers as faculty at Mass General
A Mass General ResidentCDI staff have provided me with invaluable guidance on how to navigate the complexities of Mass General and the challenges that one faces while being a female physician of color. Their mentorship has instilled a sense of confidence in me which has been critical to my career development. This experience has inspired me to help facilitate RFC mentorship initiatives for Boston’s diverse youth and UIM students participating in CDI programs.
