Becoming a Kidney Donor
Kidney transplantation involves placing a donor’s kidney into a recipient. It is a treatment for patients who have end-stage renal disease.
Living donations can be made by very healthy friends or family if their tissue is compatible with yours. Potential donors undergo testing and evaluations similar to that of the intended recipient.

For some people, receiving a living donation may not be an option. In these cases, patients are placed on the waiting list run by UNOS.
