Mass General Imaging in Boston provides imaging services on the second floor of several buildings at the main hospital. Outpatient Imaging is also available at the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care and 50 Staniford Street.

Computed Tomography (CT)

Comprehensive CT services are available on the second floor of the Blake Building, the third floor of the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care, in Suite 6E of the Yawkey Center. Some include:

  • Cardiac CT
  • CT colonography
  • Dual energy CT
  • Extremity CT
  • Low-dose CT for lung screening

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Comprehensive MRI services are available on the second floor of the Wang Building, the second floor of the Ellison Building, in Suite 6E of the Yawkey Center and on the 4th and 6th floors of the Lunder Building. Our fleet of machines include1.5T and 3T scanners and a 70 cm wide bore scanner. They include:

  • Cardiac MRI
  • Breast MRI
  • Prostate MRI 
  • MRI for patients with pacemakers or implanted devices

Mammography and Other Breast Imaging Services

Diagnostic and screening mammography, breast MRI and breast biopsy are available in Suite 240 of the Wang Building. Screening mammography is available on Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Please check in at the reception area of the Avon Comprehensive Breast Center on Wang 2, Suite 240

Lung Screening

Lung screening exams with low-dose CT are available for eligible patients on the second floor of the Blake Building and in Suite 6E in the Yawkey Center.

Ultrasound services are available on the second floor of the White Building and in Suites 3E and 6E of the Yawkey Center.

PET and PET-CT services are available in Suite 260 on the second floor of the Blake Building.

Nuclear Medicine

Exams using nuclear medicine. including cardiac stress testing with images, are available on the second floor of the Blake Building and the White Building.

Bone Densitometry

Bone densitometry is available in the Bone Density Center in Suite 1 at 10 Emerson Place across the street from the Gray Building.

X-Ray

Walk-in X-ray services are available in Suite 290 of the Wang Building, Suite 6E of the Yawkey Center and at 50 Staniford Street, 10th Floor, Suite 1002 from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. You need a doctor's order to get an X-ray.

Pediatric Imaging

Pediatric imaging services, including CT, MRI, US, nuclear medicine exams and fluoroscopy exams, are available on the second floor of the Ellison Building. Child life services available.

For fluoroscopy, ultrasound, exams with anesthesia or child life services, please check in at the reception area of our pediatric waiting room in Suite 237 of the Ellison Building.

  • Accessible Access: Ambassadors in Mass General's police and security department can help patients and visitors with special assistance requests, such as getting out of a car or into a wheelchair.
  • Public Transit: The main hospital is conveniently located near accessible public transportation and provides accessible parking and shuttle services.
