The Vascular Malformations Program at MassGeneral Hospital for Children is an international referral center for the care of infants, children, adolescents, and adults affected with vascular anomalies, such as hemangiomas, port wine stains, arterio-venous malformations, lymphatic malformations, venous malformations and other malformations. Our board-certified physicians specialize in these complex conditions and provide a full range of consultative, diagnostic, and treatment services.

Multidisciplinary Treatment for Complex Diagnoses

Disorders involving vascular malformations are complex, often misdiagnosed, and require interdisciplinary treatment for the best outcomes. Our program has been developed to provide seamless care across multiple medical sub-specialties including dermatology, plastic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, pathology, occuloplastics, and otolaryngology. Our unique multidisciplinary approach enhances diagnosis, treatment, and communication with primary care providers.

Our experts work together in one multidisciplinary clinic to provide referring doctors a team of consultants who can assist in providing appropriate treatment for patients. As many of the most difficult problems persist into adulthood, our team includes consultants who can provide a continuum of care from infancy to adulthood.

Conditions treated include:

  • Hemangiomas
  • Port Wine Stains
  • Arterial venous malformations
  • Venous Malformations
  • Sturge Weber Syndrome
  • Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome
  • Lymphatic malformations
  • The full range of vascular malformations

Family-Centered Care

At MassGeneral Hospital for Children, we know that the time of your child’s diagnosis and treatment is a very stressful one and we strive to provide an open, welcoming environment. We believe that no one knows a child as well as the parent does: parents, along with primary care providers, become our partners in a child's care and have an active voice in all treatment plans.
