The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at MassGeneral Hospital for Children is a well-established clinical, training, and research program. The group provides multidisciplinary comprehensive consultation, diagnostic, and management services for a wide array of pulmonary disorders including asthma, bronchopulmonary dysphasia, cystic fibrosis, recurrent and persistent pneumonias, unusual respiratory infections, immune deficiencies, congenital lung malformations, neuromuscular disorders leading to chronic lung problems, apnea, and sleep-related breathing problems. We constantly strive to deliver the best family-centered, community-oriented cutting-edge pediatric pulmonary care in close association with local primary care providers.

The Pediatric Pulmonary division currently has ten faculty members and four fellows. Many of our faculty are recognized as leaders in their field and have received both local and national awards. Building on our solid clinical platform, we provide training for fellows, residents, Harvard Medical School students and healthcare professionals.

Special services in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary include the Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory, Sleep Laboratory, Sweat testing and Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy.

A major strength of the Pulmonary Division is our research to improve our understanding of asthma, cystic fibrosis, and regeneration. We have a number of active research programs to look at the mechanisms that induce and control inflammation in the lung, signaling pathways that can be induced to activated regeneration and clinical studies to help develop new therapies for cystic fibrosis.
