Outpatient Clinical Services

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at MassGeneral Hospital for Children provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with the full spectrum of psychiatric conditions and behavioral or emotional difficulties in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Services include diagnostic evaluations, consultations, psychotherapy, psychopharmacologic care and behavioral guidance.

Diagnosis and treatment is provided for patients with problems including, but not limited to:

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Adjustment disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Autism spectrum
  • Depression
  • Psychosis
  • Psychological factors affecting medical illness

Clinicians from our department are recognized for their expertise in an array of child psychiatric and child adjustment conditions such as, bipolar, obsessive-compulsive, Tourette’s and coping with medical illness.

Specialty Outpatient Clinical Services

A full range of diagnostic and clinical services are provided for specific patient populations.

  • Neurocognitive and emotional assessment and consultation – L.E.A.P.
  • Addictions treatment services for ages 15 – 25 years – A.R.M.S.
  • Guidance for parents with life-threatening illness – P.A.C.T.
  • Child forensic evaluation and consultation – C.L.P.
  • Teaching parent skills to handle difficult children – Think Kids

Clinical Programs

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is committed to providing the full spectrum of psychiatric services for children and facilitating continuity of care whenever possible. Our clinicians provide 24 hour coverage in the MGH Acute Psychiatry Service, inpatient evaluation and treatment at Franciscan’s and McLean Hospitals, and Acute Residential Treatment at the McLean campus. The Klarman Eating Disorder Center in Belmont, MA., is also available to females aged 13 to 22.
