Mommy and Me Class

Who: Babies with or without special needs who are not yet active crawlers (up to 18 months of age) and their parent(s)

When: Wednesdays from 9-10 am

Where: Spaulding Rehabilitation-Wellesley

What: To facilitate early gross and fine motor development via developmental positioning/activities and equipment use

Some skills to be addressed include:

  • head and trunk control
  • sitting balance
  • prone skills
  • transitions
  • hand/grasping skills
  • early visual development

Parent education/training and handouts to be provided on an ongoing basis during the sessions.

How: A Six Week Baby Motor Group facilitated by Jennifer Stornelli, OTR/L (Occupational Therapist) and Laura O'Garr, MSPT (Physical Therapist); 6 sessions for $240

The Social Butterflies

Speech and Occupational Therapy Eight-Week Social Skills Group for 4-6 year olds

Facilitated by Jennifer Leighton, MA, CCC-SLP & Amy Feingold, MS, OTR/L

Mondays at 3 pm

Skills to be addressed include:

  • Turn taking
  • Team Work
  • Sharing
  • Conversation Skills
  • Non-verbal communication
  • Gaining adult attention
  • Organization, Planning, and Sequencing
  • Cooperating/Negotiating with peers
  • Following directions
  • Reciprocal play skills
  • Repairing communication breakdowns

Physical Therapy / Occupational Therapy

Six-Week Sensory Motor Group

Facilitated by Laura Sirois, DPT and Amy Feingold, MS,OTR/L

Mondays at 4 pm

  • Motor Planning
  • Bilateral Coordination
  • Body Awareness
  • Playground Skills
  • Strength and Endurance
  • Balance
  • Eye-hand Coordination

The focus of this group is to build upon and improve your child’s fundamental gross- and sensory-motor skills to enhance success in their everyday play with peers. Activities will include obstacle courses, playground equipment, group games, Brain Gym activities, simulated sports, etc. Handouts will be provided at the end of some sessions to help with carryover at home and in the community.
