• 5 CME credits: There also will be seven short, 30-minute presentations discussing current topics in the areas of:

  • Child Psychiatry
  • Pediatric Neurology (2 presentations)
  • GI
  • Orthopedics
  • Pediatric General Surgery

(See full course schedule below)

Target Audience

Pediatricians, academic physicians, primary care and family medicine physicians and other healthcare providers who care for children and adolescents.

Course Objectives

In a busy office, with limited time, pediatricians encounter and make judgments about patients across the lifespan with a myriad of issues. Faculty will focus their presentations on new and evolving diagnostic and therapeutic information related to the most common problems encountered.

In addition, a significant portion of the program will be committed to systematic practice and systems improvement with an extended discussion on risk reduction strategies. Through a focus on apology and disclosure, attitudes regarding patient communication should be modified.

Participants Will:

  • Increase their knowledge of themes involved in pediatric malpractice cases through reviewing pediatric closed claim malpractice cases.
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of effective communication and documentation in the practice environment, and be exposed to effective risk reduction tools.
  • Synthesize new and evolving information in a number of areas and with issues confronting officebased practice on a daily basis.
  • Review common pediatric and orthopedic surgical issues, including stateoftheart diagnosis and treatment.
