Information about public and private services and programs is critical for parents caring for a child with special needs. Without it, they are often unable to acquire critical supports for both themselves and their child. There are many sources of information available through the Internet. Though this information is often helpful, it can also be overwhelming when trying to narrow a search to the information that is most relevant for a family.

The following list is a sampling of websites that parents who have children with special needs may find helpful. It is not intended to be exhaustive but rather a good starting point that will also guide users to other equally useful sources of information.

Alliance - a national network of state parent centers providing information and training for families of children with disabilities.

Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health - a national organization with state chapters, provides families with support, information, and resources for children with mental, emotional, or behavioral needs.
