| Every
patient dealing with a cancer diagnosis needs and deserves
the support, advice and steadfast concern of friends.
At the Cancer Center, there is an organization that
offers the friendship of hospital volunteers to
help ensure that cancer patients do not have
to face their ordeal alone.
The
Friends of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center was established
in 1984 as a volunteer organization committed
to providing comfort, support, and education
to cancer patients and
their families. In addition to developing
public information programs, the Friends
provide a variety of patient services
designed to inform and give emotional
assistance. The Friends make grants to
encourage and implement staff ideas that
benefit cancer patients and their families.
All of these activities are supported
through an annual fundraiser and the
generosity of the group's members.
If your life or the life of a friend has
been touched by cancer, or if you are
simply looking for a rewarding volunteer
opportunity and a way to help cancer
patients and their families, please
consider joining The Friends of the
Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.
