Physician
assistants (PAs) provide health-care services within the
adult clinical programs with the supervision of
the program's physicians. Working as members of
the health-care team, they take medical histories, examine
patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays,
make diagnoses, initiate treatment plans and write
progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order
or perform therapeutic services. They are an integral
part of the multidisplinary team in the Massachusetts
General Hospital Cancer Center.
